Design Studio Module

All QDS applications begin in the Design Studio. The Design Studio module is the QDS design and development interface—the place where questionnaire specifications are input.

Tip: While we discuss the Design Studio in terms of questionnaires, QDS can be used to design and implement many types of data collection instruments, including clinical trial forms, laboratory data forms, and diagnostic or assessment forms.

QDS views each data collection instrument as a linear sequence of survey components. These components are called Elements in QDS and include:

• Questions or Data Input Fields (Data or Table Elements)
• Instructions (Information Elements)
• Branching or skips (Skip Elements)
• Consistency checks, branching and linking (Edit Elements)
• Calculated or created variables (Automatic Variable Elements)
• Formatting and administrative elements (Section Headers, Comments, Format, and Marker Elements)
• Custom Reports (Report Elements)
