Creating a Local Warehouse

Once you have begun data collection, you can begin adding your data to a Local Warehouse file where you will manage all the data for a single instrument.

Open the Warehouse Manager

To open the Warehouse Manager Module, go to QDS 5.0|Warehouse Manager 5.0 from Windows Start Menu or Apps View of Start screen.

Create a New Warehouse

  1. Select File|New Warehouse.
  2. Enter the name for the new Warehouse file (e.g., the name of the corresponding Control File). QDS will add the .QDW extension to create the complete Warehouse Filename. For example, if you entered HealthStudy, the complete Warehouse Filename will be HealthStudy.QDW.
  3. Click Create.

This will create a new window showing an empty Warehouse. You cannot save an empty warehouse, so if you are not ready to add data yet (see Adding Local Data Files and Importing Web Data ), the warehouse will not be saved.

The Status Bar across the top displays the following fields for each data record or interview:

Local Warehouse status bar

  • Status: Complete, Incomplete, Duplicate, Deleted, Resumed, Transferred, Shipped, Changed (see Warehouse Status Codes)
  • Version: Version number
  • Recorded: Date and time of automated interview or data entry
  • Subject ID: Variables specified in Interview Options in the Design Studio
  • Date In: Date interview was transferred into the Warehouse
  • Date Out: Date interview was deleted
  • Changed: Date interview was modified

Opening a Warehouse

You can open a previously created warehouse by going to File|Open Warehouse, and selecting your Warehouse File (*.QDW).

Tip: You must open a Warehouse File (*.QDW) before opening any other type of file that can be read by the Warehouse Manager (e.g., .QAD or .QPD data files).
