Selecting Data Security
QDS has the ability to encrypt collected data and password-protect questionnaires for CAPI, ACASI, and Data Entry data files so that unauthorized users are unable to view, export, or modify collected data. Default, Read and Modify Password, and Key Encryption are not applicable for Web collected data. Security Options
To select encryption, go to Options|Interviews|Security from the main menu to select from:
Warning: If Key encryption is selected, QDS will display a warning after the Read password is entered: When using Key exchange data encryption, always have more than one user add their public key to the control file and always back-up your key pair from the Warehouse Manager in case your Windows user profile is ever damaged or destroyed. If the key pairs are unavailable or lost, it will not be possible for the files to be decrypted by you or NOVA Research. Always keep a separate record of your Read Password. If the password is lost, it will not be possible for the files to be decrypted by you or NOVA Research.
