Exporting and Applying Reconciliation Rules

If you are conducting a multi-site study where individual sites are using the Warehouse Manager for managing and exporting data, you should define one set of Reconciliation Rules for use at all sites. This ensures that everyone is using the same set of rules.

Because Reconciliation Rules can be complicated for lengthy questionnaires, sending a printout of your rules and asking everyone to follow them is a less than ideal solution. It is not necessary to do this. Once you have defined Reconciliation Rules, you can export them from one Warehouse to another (i.e., you can define them at a central location and export them for distribution to each research location).

Exporting Reconciliation Rules (Data Center)

Once the Reconciliation Rules have been established, go to File|Export Reconciliations to export them. The Export Reconciliations step will produce a Version Reconciliation File (*.QVR) containing all Reconciliation Rules from the current Warehouse.

Applying Reconciliation Rules (Local Site)

This .QVR file produced by exporting reconciliations can then be sent to other sites where it will be applied to the other Warehouses. To apply the rules:

  1. Open the Warehouse Manager at the site.
  2. Open the Warehouse (File|Open Warehouse).
  3. Select File|Open.
  4. From the Files of type drop-down box choose Version Reconciliation Files (*.QVR).
  5. Select the .QVR file you wish to add and click Open.

The site warehouse now has the same set of Reconciliation Rules that were defined in the original Warehouse.

Tip: All the non-Standard interviews will still need to be converted to the new Standard Version; however, the process of defining the rules for reconciliation is skipped.
