Responsibilities

Ms. Morton provides consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, and labor relations. She is responsible for recruitment, interviewing, and orientation of new employees; disposition and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and personnel records; administration of insurance plans, COBRA, performance evaluations, and tuition reimbursement; training and orientation regarding administrative and personnel issues; and development and implementation of employee morale functions.

Carolyn's Story

Carolyn is an experienced human resource management professional; her last 25 years have been in the federal contracting environment. Her experience in human resources includes consultation to management on strategic staffing plans, compensation, employee benefits, training and development, and labor relations. She is responsible for recruitment, interviewing, and orientation of new employees; disposition and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and employee records; administration of benefits and rewards programs, and performance evaluations; training and orientation regarding administrative and employee issues; and internal communications and development and implementation of employee morale functions. Carolyn ensures that organizational policies and practices are in compliance with applicable employment, safety, and health laws and assists management with employee grievance resolution in conjunction with corporate legal counsel.

Prior to NOVA, Carolyn held human resources positions at the League of Women Voters in Washington, DC; the Junior League of Washington; and the prestigious Kiplinger Washington Editors, Inc., publishing company. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, with a Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP) designation/certification and also a Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.
